My eX was down the last time you guys went... but me and a bunch of buddies (a lot from michigan j**pers) are heading to silver lake on the 8th 9th and 10th of august. I was hoping I could get some fellow eX's up there to show these lil j**ps up :)

OH, OH OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i missed the action last time too....was finishing my BL. i will be putting in the request tomarrow!

i could meet you in monroe, say at sport truck usa...and caravan...if i can get the time off that is.

A friend of mine in the Chicago area just got back from the dunes today. It was his first time there and he said it was awesome. He was very impressed that his H2 was able to tackle some of the steeper dunes.

uh-oh. soneone was impressed with an H2...i plan on taking a truck with 32s and 3.27 gears with open diffs, not to mention auto hubs and a teen driver who has NEVER been offroad yet.....
......looks like i am in for some T R O U B L E!

He has to be impressed with some part of that thing. On his first road trip he found out it only averaged 8mpg! He was anything, but impressed with that

hahahahaha......i get a whopping 11mpg city and 14 hwy!

in other words, we'll be stopping for gas on the trip if i can go.

too bad you're do far away rick, i'd love to meet the man responsible for this site and see the great pumpkin in person. i have family in tuscon, maybe if i fly out after i get out of school, i will look you up.

I might be able to meet you guys up there, would not be driving my truck on the dunes tho...and the damn dune buggy was way more trouble than it was worth last time, so hard to say...:)

14 wow

You got a 327 rear end and only get 14 on the highway. I have a 3.73 LS and i get 18-19 on the highway.:p Where are those dunes? Sounds like lots of fun!

David

see, if i has 3.73 gears, all would be well. my truck is pretty slow...for now....but that happens when you run 32x11.5x15 tires and dont regear.

the dunees are near grand rapids, michigan

ya that would be really cool to meet somewhere but,
technicaly i'm north of monroe, more like brownstown flat rock area, maybe we could find another spot to meet... also do you have a cb? if not i would suggest one or at least a hand held you can pick up from a truck stop for like 20 bucs or so...

Have a good time guys, I won't be able to make this one.

i have an old hangheld cb, would have to test it first. my stepdad is a HAM operator so i am sure he has some old CB stuff laying around. i do have a nextel though...if you have nextel, we could just 2-way (or call).

i know where browntown is. maybe we could meet in taylor, near southland mall. i work at westland mall so its not too far from me.....

still gotta see if i CAN go. my stepdad and cousin are going up north earlier that week and i promised my mom i wouldnt leave her alone (she's handicapped)...i just need to find out when they are returning....and try and get it off work.

ok well if everyhting works out, i work at the home depot right next to southland, so yeah southlan would be perfect

ok, still not dure if i can go but need more info. i know i would need an ORV cert, how much for that and what do i need for it? also, i remember seeing something about needing a pole with an orange flag...where so i get one and what height?...and mounting options? anything else? and i am a little confused about the entry pass system....i would be leaving sat morning and plan on running sat and sunday. would i be able to just rol up and get a pass on sat afternooon when i arrive? and how much to get in (or for passes)? i am trying to get all this figured out and i am crossing my fingers in hopes that i can go, but i need to so the budget first.

ok i will try and answer those q's

flag: not sure on exact hieght, but sport truck has em, and also they sell them all over silver lake for like 10-15bucs

orv sticker: yes you do need one, and all you need to ge4t one is 17 bucs, any meijers has em

pass system: this is how it worked last time i went... if you go on a weekend you need to go to the voucher booth or whatever they call it, and pick up your voucher, it will have a 2 or 4 hr time block when you need to enter the dunes, once you get on i beilve you can go on and off as needed...

and don't forget to air down! ;)

how do the flags mount?

also, if i get there late saturday afternoon (say like 5p-6p) will i still be able to get in that day?

looks like i can go, about 75%. i bought a CB and installed it today...how many aere going so far and how many have CBs? i can also bring FRS and i do have my cell phone at all times (which happens to be a nextel).

still need to know how the flags mount and if i get there late saturday afternoon (say like 5p-6p) will i still be able to get in that day?

and one more thing, what is everyone doing for lodging? the best i could find on a hotel is 21 miles away and like 90 bucks/nite...sounds pricey but i hacent been out that way before.

lodgin- camp, cheap, fun, and easy. or there is a hotel about 5 mins from the dunes. not sure on price

flags- bolt into, i think a half inch hole, or they sell things that will adapt to tow hooks.

dont worry about the voucher system, its not bad

and i will deff. be there
:D

hmm....dont think the lady will want to camp....probably hit that hotel.

dont want to drill a hole and sont have tow hooks (yet). i am sure i can figure comething out...wonder if i can rig something to my CB ant......probably not.

i just want to make sure if i get there sat nite that i can wheel sat nite, not have to wait till sunday cuz that would only give me one day.

hey, outta curiosity, what channel most prople use out there for CB?

the flag has to be, i think, like 13 feet up or somthing. the flag has to be upfront on trucks buggies all that kind of stuff, but they are on back for quads, dirtebikes and other small things. they sell a bracket that is about 6 inches long, and will bolt to anthing with a u bolt. kind of hard to explain but you can bolt them on to like a tow hook (i know you dont have one) or anything else towards the front that you can get a medium size u bolt around. if i remeber right the hotel is like 45-75 $ a night depending on wether you get lake side or road side rooms. hope to see you there:)
