I have a couple of questions. I have had a 1997 explorer with a 4.0 SOHC 4wd 4405 warner transfer case for several years. the transfer case went out a couple of years ago and I bought a junker to pull the transfer case out of. That transfer case went out a few days ago and I have been trying to figure out what to do next. I found a 1997 5.0 awd mercury mountanier at an auction so I bought it without driving it. I only gave 500.00 for it so don't have much invested. I got it home and have discovered someone has taken the front drive shaft out of it. Will the shaft out of my junk 4.0 4wd 4405 fit in it with the 5.0 awd 4404? Also I have noticed a few other problems with the mercury. If I decided to, would the 4404 work in place of the 4405 if I put it into the explorer? Thanks for your time, Ronald
