2002 grinding while turning when accelerating

My 02 Limited was doing the same thing. I first replaced the fluid and friction modifier with non-motorcraft and that was a waste of money. So I drained it again and replaced it with the motorcraft synthetic- SAE 75W-140 rear axle lubricant and motorcraft friction modifier. Drove it for a while and it was still grinding so I added another bottle of motorcraft friction and that fixed it, no more grinding.

camaro_guy_z28: How did things turn out? I had the same situation on my '03. Used the Royal Purple 75W-140 with the friction modifier and added a bottle of the x-3 from the dealer. I had extra friction modifier much like sxlvr described above. Cured everything! Just make sure you take out the fill plug FIRST before you remove the drain plug or you could end up having it towed to the dealer.
