2021 order availability and lead-time?

Does anyone know when the ordering will start for 2021s? I believe they opened up the ordering for the 2020 last January with pricing in early February. I thought they would do the same thing this year, but it seems like the final order date for 2020s would be April 2 (a bit earlier for the Police Interceptors).

I'm also hearing that the lead-time is about 14 weeks for non-PI, and about 22 weeks for PI. Does this sound right? If so I think the ordering for 2021s would probably start around July/August?

The reason I ask is that my lease will be ending this year, but I don't want to order a 21 if they are assembling it during the holidays when the plant idles down. I'd probably want it assembled/shipped before the holidays or after.

Looking at the Ford Production Schedule site I use, there is no info on the 2021. All dates for it show TBD as does the final order date for the 2020.

I have been waiting to order my ST in hopes to miss a few early productions problems. Although I am now wondering if I should hold out for a 2021 in hopes that sync 4 will be released into explorers. Does your message indicate if I place an order after 5/14 that It will fall into 2021 production and have to wait till 7/27 for job #1 to begin? Thanks in advance!

Orders can be placed on 4/13 for 2021MY.

My 2020 Platinum was supposed to be at my dealership in March, now looking like late April or later. Maybe I should just tell them to order me a 2021 model year now?

I guess it depend on how long you are prepared to wait. 2021 production is slated for July 27th meaning delivery likely won't happen until late September or sometime in October.

The Borg Warner plant that provides the transfer cases to the new Explorer and F-series was destroyed by a tornado, so I'm wondering how they plan to change suppliers in this time. Is there enough time to validate a different design?
