Help,

1) "Check guage" lit up today - temp was rocketing and sitting just below and then in the red before dropping to just below the top range of the temp bar, check all oil, coolant etc and they are good.... any idea's

2) The brake fluid warning light is on constantly now - fluid levels are good, any ideas on this one ?

3) and as if this wasn't enough, now getting a slight power loss, or noticable "slump" when the transmission is upshifting (mostly 2nd-to-3rd)

After 5 years of ownership first real issues I've had and all in 24hrs of each other !

Cheers

Steve :uk:

Did it actually overheat or is this possibly a gauge/sensor issue?
Start simple. Disconnect the battery for 15 mins, reconnect and see if the check gauge and brake warning light remain on.

Just noticed your location,
Away up in Gorgie at Tynecastle park, there's a wee fitba' team that will aye make its mark ;)

Hahah - you know Tynecastle is sold now ! There playing at Murrayfield :-(

Sorted most of this out, last thing is the overheat and garage says it's probably electrical of some form, they are checking it out Monday. Looks like it is overheating... doh...

Cheers

Steve

Sounds like you may a grounding problem. You need to carefully check to see if the thing is acutally overheat. The temp gauge is a temperature sensor that is between ground and a set voltage. The brake fluid light is simply a float switch that is easy to check and replace. As for the stumble, this too could be a bad ground as the tranny is electronically controlled. Since they all started happening about the same time, it sounds like they have something in common and that something is usually electricity.
