- 2000 Merc Mounty V8 AWD
Hi Guys,
I've searched for clues to this problem but hadn't seen any real fixes.
My AWD 5.0 Merc Mounty's reverberating hum from the front end is getting worse. I took it in a little while ago when it only made the noise when slowing down. The trip we took last weekend had the fron end vibrating like crazy most all the time. Could even feel it on the floorboard. Only 30,000 miles on it.
The dealer last said thats charactistic of these transfer cases. That true? If it is, I'm ditching this ride. More noise and vibration that what it's worth.
I want to take it in again, still warranty, and have them check it out again. My problem is this dealership sucks. You gotta basically tell them what to look for cuz they're clueless.
Anyone have any ideas on what to tell them to look for? Bearings, CVC Joints, transfer case tolerances, drive shaft alignment?????
My wife and I really like the Merc...don't really want to give it up, but I ain't gonna live with this noise and vibration.
