quad cab update

Well here is the latest update not much work completed been getting ready for Christmas so progress is slow.

I managed to get the black splash in and gutted the interior with the help of my daughter .
We got to the floor removing the "tar mat" and checked it out. It is in real good shape but core support is hosed. So we will repair the cancer or replace it all together.

Got the doors off and rolled it outside to start on the rear doors. I started with the blue ext cab doors and broke the rolled over seam on the inside door.

This is how I took the seams apart I used a pair of wire cutters and ground one side of the jaw flat to line up with the edge of the door

Notice the face side of the door has very little distortion doing this
DSC00065.jpg

Next we did the same to the explorer door

And then the black splash door.

Kind of neat to see them like this
DSC00066.jpg

We found the moveable window of the rear explorer door has the same curve of the ranger the only “ issue” we are going to have is the explorer glass has a square edge.

So I think I have to incorporate the top of the explorer door where the seal is to get the correct shape for the top edge.

passenger rear door

Well, everyone sorry about the length of time since last post. Winter hit us with 70mph gusts the Sunday after Christmas . Took part of my Roof so I had to repair that what fun being on a Roof for 8 hours. The Sunday before my Family hosted the Christmas party for the relatives what a day that ended up being 2 plus feet of snow at least it was a white Christmas.

Ok with that said, lets see the progress after looking and thinking for a long time at the doors also getting my stomach not to churn about cutting the doors up. I started with lobbing off the front of the door for the rear pass side.
DSC00055-1.jpg

Next I cut the rear upright support off the black door to use for the front of the rear doors and started forming it to the front of rear door
DSC00057-1.jpg

DSC00058-1.jpg

Also had to make allowances for the hinges
DSC00062-1.jpg

Next I looked at the explorer door and noticed the upright support and cut that to use in the front f the rear door

DSC00060-1.jpg

DSC00056-1.jpg

With that done I clamped it together to show what it is going to look like
Have to add extension on the front to make edge for the front door

And with the window setting in
DSC00065-1.jpg

With window down
DSC00068-1.jpg

Will have to add some metal from explorer door
DSC00067-1.jpg

Also attach this after the door is done it is for the window regulator area

Here is a pic of the plasma/ tig welder
