95 Sport 4.0 OHV 4x4
Hello all, I have a 95 Sport 4.0 OHV with 4x4, I had a few questions about the suspension. First off im looking to make this into a casual offroad toy(with the intent of going maybe once or twice a month) Ive been reading a lot about the differnt options, right now im planing on doing a 2" TT and the shackles. And maybe a 2" body lift(I heard its easier then the 3"bl)

I had a question about the shackles, Do i need 4? like 2 per leaf spring? One shackle for the rear of the leaf and one for the front of the leaf(closer to the front end). Or do i just put 1 shackle on the rear of the leaf.

I was also seeing people talking about the monoleaf to multileaf, I have the mono and was wondering about whats compatiable with my car, im looking to buy new from a car parts store. Do I just say I have a 95 4door or what is the vehicle they come from. I also remeber seeing some bolt was too big or maybe too small when swapping, I think they are talking about the U-bolt so in that case I either buy a new one for my vehicle or reuse the old one?

Also Do you recommend the Rancho shocks? I heard they can provide a little lift not sure if this is ture or maybe they're needed/highly recommended for being lifted.

To help im looking to put 32-33" tires on, Thanks for all the input and help that you provide.

One shackle per leaf set, it goes on the back end. Keep in mind you get half the lift of the shackle length increase. In other words, if the shackle is 2" longer than the stock piece, you will get just 1" of lift from it.

Rancho shocks are decent, but they won't give any lift at all. Shocks don't lift.

If you want to run that size tire, youll need to gear both axle to compensate for the increase in size.

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks, and yeah I remeber reading about them giving half the lenght in lift. When i buy the shakles, well rather install them I either want to buy new leafs or have to swap the stocks ones due to the gangster lean(I think its called) which i would rather replace them seeing as its a 20 year old vehicle with what im assuming are the original leafs.

Search Monroe 58617 (Load Adjusting Rear Shocks) on top of the page. Most users claim at least one inch of lift after installing. Very highly regarded with great reviews at around $90 per pair. For front shocks consider the Monroe RS5374 valved for up to two inches of lift. Also check out the lift sub forum with tons of info and lot's of hands on experience. GL

Yeah ive been looking around as of right now I think im going to buy the Monroe 58617's for the rear and the Rancho RS5374's shocks for up front. Seeing as all 4 shocks are ~200 bucks. Along with buying some multi leafs that I think should fit (http://www.generalspringkc.com/product_p/43-967.htm) They have the same width and length as the 95-01(second gen) just a thinker pad's but can anyone verify that those will work, either direct bolt on or with minor modifications.

These are the exact ones you want-http://www.generalspringkc.com/product_p/43-1159.htm
But I believe the ones you selected should work too. They just have a thicker distance from the top of the leaf pack to the bottom leaf(make sure you're u-bolts are long enough to account for that).

If you go with new 4 door springs you probably won't need the Monroe helper shocks unless you plan to tow. They help sagged springs or people who tow/haul a lot of weight. I would personally get a full set of Bilstein 4600 shocks or Rancho 9000's.

For 32-33's you probably would only need a TT and the new 4 door springs(31's should fit stock).

As far as gearing it depends on what you have now. If you have 3.73's you could get away with it but it would be a dog. If you have anything higher than 3.73's you would want to re-gear to at least 4.10's if not 4.56 for a city/off road driven truck.

Yeah good call on the U-bolt I didnt even think of that, but on my mono leaf im not sure if its common or not that i have 4 blocks that are probably like 3inches by 3 inches and the same thinkness of the leaf(maybe a little thinner) from what it looks like so im thinking it should fit but ill messure the entire assemble when I replace the rear brakes in the next few days to make sure.
