Here's the deal; a friend is helping me, and he's got more ability than me, but I'm feeling like he's starting fizzle out on me. We hope to do this job without pulling the engine (though we're almost to that point now). We've undone the motor mounts and jacked up the engine, dropped the exhaust, detached the bolt that hold the power steering and unhooked tie rods and steering column; unhooked the transfer case mounting bolts, and removed the lower bell housing shield. Still no joy. Engine is just not lifted enough to remove the oil pan, though it's real close. I suspect the oil pump is keeping the pan from sliding back. Anyone done this job, or can steer me to a step-by-step site? The Haynes manual only has a vague, pull the motor technique. Thanks in advance! Keith in cold Maine...
I posted this in the Tech Corner as well, as this is probably most often dealt with by mechanics...hope that's okay.
