98 Turbo Explorer sport " UPDATE "

Hey all just doing an update on my Turbo Explorer sport is still running grate. Installed the sniper tune on it about 2 months a go its running great have to do some more data logging/tuning to get it perfect. The turbo has been on it since Nov of 07. I am hoping to get some of my data logging done this week end.:D I have done some bad ass high way run on it where I live I have some very long straits that I can just open it up so far i have hit about 140-150 with it just going in to 5th at about 3500 rpms and 7-8 psi of boost. its just so much fun :D. I have just about brang the speedo back to 0 again. I have some thing to ask? first off I just love the stock 4 wheel disc thats on my sport but dose any one know of a good pad that dose not leave so much brake dust on my rims ( I have white cobra R's) and after I make a few blast down the high way they are so dusty they look all black. so if some one could recamend some good pads that dont leave so much dust I would like it.

Holy Gigantor Paragraph Batman!

on the real note. Nice truck man I can't wait to get forced induction. As for brake pads in my experience the less dust they leave the less braking power they have and at 130 mph
you NEED your brakes to work there best.

But then I haven't delt with many. So
maybe there's somethin out there thats good and clean.

Ive never used any "green stuff" brake pads but I here theyre good.

I don't really recommend going that fast in an explorer. One wrong thing happens at that speed and you'll be history. I'm not flaming you in any way, but please take it from me, I've wrecked at 100+ miles an hour and it's not fun. I was laid up for a couple weeks after and I still have problems from it. Thank goodness it wasn't the explorer i was in, or I would probably be dead.

Ceramic brakes-try 'em you like. Little to no dust-j

Ceramic pads, while cause less dust, are not worth the other problems they cause.

I suggest swapping to larger brakes. The stock brakes are VERY inadequate when stopping from 60-70mph....I can't imagine trying to stop @ twice those speeds.

Look into the brake swap that I did, or maybe swapping to the SportTrac 12" brakes. That is a total bolt-on swap for you.

for now, you definitely better get some hawk brake pads or those ebc green pads and whn coming to a complete stop from 70+ mph let off the brake a few times so you dont warp the rotors as fast... then get some real brakes. IMO thye are so much better than regular parts store ceramics, for 60-70 bucks they are cheap insurance, and will keep ur wheels a bit cleaner. ive had experieence with the hawks in my 5000 lb brick, they haul you down FAST.
