AC compressor problems

The ford dealership just informed me that i need a new compressor for my AC to work. I haven't got an estimate yet, but I'm sure it will be WAY over $500 to replace.

I know how to replace a compressor, but i need to find one for a lower price. I found a Ford unit from GEFRacing for $265. Are there remanufactured units avalable for cheaper?

Which replacement would everyone suggest?

What are your experiences with the AC Compressor?

Remember, i have a 96 4.0 X-Sport.

Check autozone.com , or look around ebay . Seems like ebay has a ton of new unused ford parts all the time . Maybe you can get a deal . Best thing if Autozone has a life-time warranty , you wont have to worry about the cost again .

i looked up autozone.com, and found that they had it for $230 remanufactured. I think i'm going to tackle this task by myself...
