Balance Shaft Vs. Non Balance Shaft?

So I am getting ready to order parts for the front timing chain job on my 4.0L SOHC engine....and I see it is available for balance shaft or non-balance shaft engines....how does one know if thier SOHC is one or the other?

Is it 2wd or 4wd. 4wd has a balance shaft
