Bumper Brackets

Hey everyone, So I finished my 3" body lift about 2 weeks ago, and I'v been thinking about the stupid bumper brackets. I used the ones in the kit, and I know that you are not supposed to tow or anything with them because they are really cheap pieces of crap, So I was looking into getting a reciever hitch but I dont think I can fit one with my new exhaust and Shackles. Do you think that the bumper would be strong enough to tow with if I made some new bumper brackets out of 3/8" or 1/2" steel? I would only be towing a 500 lb boat.

yes... just make them similar to the stock ones

i simply welded 1/4" plate to the bottom of the stock brackets and drilled new holes.. you cant' tell its modified at all. it'll hold. i don't tow with mine since i have hitch... but 1/2" brackets will be way strong enough... overkill really.
