I have some "wish list" projects that require lots of access to both the engine and transmission, and hell, it'd be a whole lot easier if they were both out of the vehicle.
I've been looking at what's involved to drop the transmission, and it looks like a whole lot of disassembly of adjacent components.
On the other hand, if I could pull both together straight out the top, that seems like it would be a lot easier.
I want to work on:
Looking for input from you guys. Should I drop the trans and leave the engine in place, or pull them both together up and out? I don't have access to a lift, so anything I do would be on my back in the garage with it up on jack stands.
I don't have a hoist either for that matter, but they're cheaper than a two post lift.

I want to work on:
- Replace torque converter
- Replace bellhousing separator plate (it's missing)
- Exhaust manifolds (messed up studs/ broken flange)
- Oil pan gasket
- Oil pump
- Engine mounts
- Inspect timing tensioners/ guides (why not)
- Intake manifold/ gasket
- Valve cover gaskets
