My 2005 Explorer has had the issue with the check charging system coming on at high RPMs for months, changed battery (not due to this, it was the OEM one and needed to be done), terminals clean, still happened so the fix was simply not to keep it wide open and only do that when I drive my Mustang GT
Saturday I was running a few errands and the check charging system came on for about 3-4 seconds about every 2 minutes, then every minute. Came home, verified the belt wasn't slipping, battery voltage at idle wasn't even 12 volts so it was alternator time.
Never removed an alt so easily, 1/2" deep socket for the bolts, 3/8" breaker bar for the belt tensioner and done in 5 minutes. Put in the new alt and no more light/beep even at high rpms.
