I read somewhere about a the proper steps to resetting your computer and doing it right, exactly the way it should be done, but I can't find it now. What I have done so far is disconnected my battery cable for an hour (I went inside and fell asleep... oops  ) then I just turned my car on, now I'm letting it idle for 15 minutes.
I believe I am supposed to let it idle for 15, then take it out and drive it nice and slow for another 15, then its good and done and drive it like I normally will.
I think I am right, just looking for confirmation for peace of mind.
Thanks

Correct!!!

on the note of resetting the computer... what are the benefits/reasons for doing this? How often should this be done?

I did it because I got a K&N drop in filter (my stock one was getting old and dirty and I had a gift card) plus I hadn't done it since I had got my catback exhaust... you are supposed to do it after any performance modification.
