Eliminate "change oil soon"

I had the oil changed in my 2005 XLT a month ago. But the "change oil soon" message still appears, not all the time but frequently after engine startup. I tried hitting "reset" more than once. No change. BTW, how does the computer know when oil has been changed? If it matters, I had been burning E85 until a month ago. Too expensive to burn E85 now<grin>.

Just went through that on mine this past Saturday for the first time.


Hit the middle "setup" button and watch the menu on the lower right of the gage cluster. When you get to the oil (I forget exactly what it says) hit and hold the reset button. You'll be prompted to hold it for 5 seconds It will then say oil life set to 100%.
