i just picked up another fan clutch today because the one I had installed
didn't seem to work right (it would not slow down until after I had been driving for about 5 mins) The one I got today says on the outside of the box that if a fan clutch fails, the bearing in the water pump usually fails along with it and the water pump should be replaced at the same time. Is this generally true? My water pump doesn't seem to be having any problems, but I had never heard this before. Just wanted to see how true it was?

Sounds like a ploy to make more "profits."

I changed my chevy fan clutch w/o changing the water pump........no problems.

Though, IF the fan clutch was playing havoc (causing an imbalance condition) w/ the bearing of the water pump (it could happen) then, the advice would sould to be resonable.

Just my .02.............as for me, I'd replace the water pump when it fails.

Aloha, Mark

Thanks, thats what I was thinking too, but I wanted to get some other opinions as well.
