OK so here it is. I used about 6" of 3" PVC pipe and 1 90* rubber clamp on elbow and 1 rubber clamp on coupler. Total cost was $12 for the fittings. I found the pipe on a job site. There was actually a good bit of work involved. I had to rotate the windshield washer fluid and antifreeze container thingy 90* counter clockwise and fab new mounts for it out of 1/2 EMT conduit. I also had to wrap the "out" side of the MAF with some black electrical tape to make it big enough to clamp the rubber fitting on it. For the throttle body, I used one of the pieces of rubber from the stock intake to build it up to clamping size. As things are I have about 3/16" of clearence between the rubber 90* and the throttle linkage and about 1/4" of clearence between the other side of the rubber 90* and the pulley on the AC compressor. I also had the extend the wires on the MAF sensor harness about 2 feet to move it to the other side. I was worried this would throw a code because of the extra resistence in the wire from the longer length, but it didn't, so no worries. OK now for the pics:
Here's a pic of the brackets that hold the container. There is also another one on the other side but this pic doesn't show it. It is super sturdy and doesn't move at all.
How does it work?
AWESOME!!!! It's got an even "edgier" sound than the same filter on the stock tube, and I swear (although I haven't timed it yet) that my 0-60 time is significantly faster.
