fuel tank

I have a 99 4 door with a 4.0. I was in the process off dropping the tank to replace the pump. I broke the plastic piece that is on top of the tank and has 3 wires on it. What is it for. It is not the wiring for the pump.
Another thing, How do you take the fuel line off the pump unit? My looks like it is crimped on.

You need a fuel line disconnect tool. The wires are probably the fuel sending unit, but not sure.

might be the fuel tank pressure unit. the wire colors are RD/PK, BN/WH, GY/RD

Probably too late for this question, but are you sure the pump is bad? Have you checked the FP relay and inertia switch?
