Hello y'all! I am just joining hoping for advice and ideas. I like building stuff, and odd stuff.
Here is what I have: I bought a 97 Sport 2wd with the 4.0 OHV, 4R55e, and open diff 4.10's, and the big fender flares.
I have driven MANY 95-01 Explorer/Mountaineer's, but this one is QUICK!

I also have several parts Explorers:
95 Sport 2wd OHV 4.0, 4R44e, 3.L73's = rust
97 4door 4wd OHC 4.0, 4R55e, 3.55's = T. chains & wrecked
97 Mountaineer 2wd P5.0, 4R70W, 3.L73's = rod knocking
98 Mountaineer P5.0, 4R70W = seized motor & trashed interior
00 Sport 2wd OHC 4.0, 4R55e, 3,55's = bad trans & trashed all over
00 4door 2wd OHC 4.0, 4R55e, 3.L73's = trashed interior

OK, here is what I am thinking about doing:
I would like to build a FUN 2dr Sport out of the 97. Lower 2", 18" Cobra wheels, 27" street tires, Mountaineer grille,
AND 5.0 swap with alittle cam!

Now what I am wondering is would the V8 swap be worth while? I am only wondering because even thought the 4 doors are heavier, a V8 one is slower than this V6 2 door.

G'day :):thumbsup:I'd go the V8, mainly because of the aftermarket go fast goodies available.

Wow, rust on a FL vehicle - that's a new one.
Good luck with your project and welcome.

It probably was up north at some point.

Thanks for the welcomes Y'all.

welcome
