Bought my 94 ranger with a burnt valve, redid the head and reassembled. After a week or so noticed the idle hunting when i was slowing down for a stoplight. Eventually the idle was 1500rpm at light and was lazy to idle back down after getting off the gas. What was scary was the header would start to glow orange if you let it idle for any length of time. I did a code scan with a red brick and it came up coil packs. Truck has new coil packs. to sum up the edis or ignition module was bad. replaced it truck idles, no glow, and no codes. hope this helps
