p0741 tcc solenoid or electrical fault????

Hello all.

2000 Explorer v6 auto.

The OD light has been blinking for about 3-4000 miles. It drives and shifts fine.

A friend at a trans shop gave me this after hooking up the reader.

p0741
TCC Solenoid or electrical fault
epc. fault

Not sure what it all means.

Like I said shifts fine for the last 4k.(Knock on wood)


what do you think?

I also read on here that

Would that pertain here?

Welcome to this forum! Clean the white connector first before replacing the solenoid, and clear the code. Replace the solenoid if the code comes back again. Check this link for additional information: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1724378&postcount=2

Where is the white connector?

Does the dealer have to clear the code, or can you dissconnect the battery?

Decent price on the solenoind?

If you go to Autozone, their scanner could clear the code for you. Disconnecting the battery will clear the code, but the computer will have to relearn everything. The scanner allows just the codes to be erased from the memory.

It looks like a square bulk head connector with a lot of wires going into it.
