I am looking to flush my transmission fluid and replace with synthetic. Autozone, however, only had 12 quarts of Mobil1 ATF. I know that there is around 15 quarts total in the transmission. I was wondering if A) I should only flush out 12 quarts worth of ATF fluid, leaving behind 3 quarts of old ATF, or B) mix with 3 quarts other brand ATF tocompletely flush out the old.
I also have a question regarding the drop pan method to replace the filter before I do the complete flush. Can I replace the 4 quarts that comes out during the drop pan method with any old Mercon III ATF since it is just going to be flushed out immediately after. Thanks
PS- I got standard Mobil1 that said it was compatable with Ford Mercon transmission fluid. Is this the same as Mercon V? Thanks
