rearview mirror help

hello
I have a 2002 exp that has a rear view mirror with a box looking thing behind it mirror and thr mirror has a green light and a button that turns it on and off but it does not work is it a hig beam deal or is it the compass like in the book.who knows what the box is and what the switch is for????

Box is for the compass, the green button is the autodim function of the mirror

How did you get the compass

Can you please tell me how did you get the compass, I have a 2004 EB and my message center doesnot have a compass display, tried resetting the button behind rear view mirror. No Luck.

If you have the autodim activated and someone is behind you at night, are their lights a greenish color? If so, it's working
