I am trying to replace my manual transmission in my '94 Explorer Sport. In removing the transmission, how do you remove the top two bolts that hold it to the motor. We can't even figure out how to get to them!

I got to both of them on a '94 from the top (engine compartment). They are a PITA to get to and remove, but it is possible.

It can be a pita, You can feel for them from the bottom and take them out or you can try going from the top of the motor. I can get to them from the bottom pretty easily but my trans has been out more than few times. :)

What I do is lower your tranny jack so that the tranny/motor tilts down and then use a long extention (24 or so inches) to get at it. Like Doug I've also done it quite a few times now (just finished doing it again last week)
