Hi everyone I have a 2004 explorer eddie bower edition. I recently installed an aftermarket stereo and had a difficult time with that but its working wonderfully now. The only thing is that now the three buttons that are on the wood paneling that say reset, info, and setup no longer work. I am actually not 100% sure if they worked before I messed with installing the aftermarket stereo but I can assume it was connected and worked.
When I popped off the faceplate there was nothing connected to the buttons and there were only two connectors unused. Here are some pictures.

If you guys know of any ways to fix this it would be greatly appreciated. If there are any other ways to reset the oil change required message in the message center im all ears. Remove the negative cable from the battery to reset?

Looking at the faceplate compared to the two connectors, I'm not sure how either will fit? If any will have a chance of fitting, it would be the black connector. Have you tried hooking either up? If one does fit, start the car and press the buttons and let us know what happens. I might pull mine off to see what you should expect.

I have tried connecting both and neither of them fit.

Interesting. Wonder if the correct wire has fallen back and you just need to dig for it?

Is your Ex AWD, 4WD or 2WD? I was wondering if someone replaced the surround with a different piece, causing hookup issues. I'll try to pull mine off today and snap a picture of what it looks like.

I would appreciate it. Its a 2wd. I installed the stereo myself and am thinking that I probably messed something up but I dont remember removing any wiring during the installation.

Looks like our faceplate connector is the same.

Here is the wire you are missing.

Look behind the stereo it will probably be back there somewhere... The two connectors are probably for the 4x4 buttons that you don't have because yours is a 2wd...
