I have a 97 Explorer 4.0 OHV that will not start. I am not getting spark to the spark plug. I have 12+v to the coil pack and the Primary resistance is good.
The Secondary resistance is high. The book calls for 6.5 to 11.5 K-ohms. Mine reads 13.75 or so.
These things are pretty expensive so I really don' want to shotgun parts.

Is 13.75 too high?

Thanks

I would say that its within the "limits" of your measurement as it is more likely a complete short or open is probable as a failure condition. I suspect that it isn't your problem. If you are getting no spark, its likely you are not getting the conditions to "fire" the coil.... which comes from the PCM and is derived from the crankshaft position sensor.
