Installed the 8 new Accel coils and the truck runs buttery smooth now! They were $173 shipped from Summit Racing and installed it about 15 minutes.
I'm more than a little let down at the Lincoln dealer for pushing us out the door so quickly and insisting that the coils were fine. The obviously weren't - though we recently never had a check engine light to indicate a misfire. Regardless, Ford dealers are supposed to "stress test" the coils and it sounds like this goober wasn't.
The Accel coils promise increased performance and a higher energy spark. I have even seen dyno tests showing 5 HP gains. But honestly, I'm only expecting them to work like a normal coil. And at about $20/each shipped I can afford to buy a new set each year if that what it comes down to.
