After considerable trial and error, I've found the correct spot to draw power for my XM receiver. In my 04 Explorer Sport Trac, fuse #39 is labeled "Delayed Accessory" in the owners manual. It is a 10 amp fuse in the box under the hood. The leg toward the front end is energized when the key is in "accessory", "start", and "run" and stays energized after the key is turned off, until a door is opened. Simply (carefully) solder a wire to the fuse leg closest to the firewall and run that power to the XM unit (modulator in my case). The XM receiver will turn off at the same time the radio turns off.
