Hi folks. My '91 has an issue.
Right where my power steering hose screws into the Pump, it swivels. Is this normal? Since I bought my 'X' a few years back it has swiveled. It is always 'wet' in this area, I have tried to snug it up but it is tight.

I was very low on fluid the other day and it is wet all around that area, it must be weeping from that swivel area.
Wondering if it is designed to swivel or should I really try socking down on the fitting.

Thanks

Hose replacement

Don't mean to hyjack -

The metal parts of my hose look like it's ready to blow. I'm concerned about breaking loose the pump end since the pump is plastic. Any tricks to replace the hose without breaking the plastic housing ?

I just did my Hi pressure hose. No sweat. The housing looks plastic but I think it's Cast aluminum.

Hole the larger brass nut and loosen the nut on the hose. You will see when you get the new hose that it is the Smaller nut that comes off the larger one.
Clean off the area at the Steering box so nothing falls in the box.
Put a pan under the car to catch the fluid

NAHHHH - Mine is definitely plastic. Anybody else also have success or pump breaking on them ?

Got to get this done quickly - I'll job it out - just wondering what to expect from a mechanic. One had alerted me on the plastic pump issue.

If you hold the one Larger nipple that goes into the Housing then there should be NO strain on the Plastic as you remove the Hose. Very Simple job so long as you can crack the hose nuts loose on the Steering box.
