I guess i will start by saying track down a good used one, if it has low mileage the better. Do as much as you can with the motor out, meaning tune up and any gaskets that look like they are leaking. Power wash it and thats it.

The same way you take out the motor is the same way you put it in. The only difficult thing that i cant stand doing when i USE to change out motors was getting the trannies to line up. Especially when you are doing it on the floor with jacks, DAM that sucks. Maybe an idea take the radiator and diconnect the wireing harness and let a mechanic swap out the motor and you do the rest. Thats what i would do. Triple A towing is alsome to have hahaha.

hey thankx. it really helps. im a novice at all this stuff.

Be nice if you knew someone that has a garage with a hoist. I did one but a lil different, disconnect everything you can find, drain all the fluids and disconnect it from the tranny. Remove the radiator as suggested above, give you a lot more room. As you're lifting it out go slow and make sure you didn't miss something needing disconnected. Put in the replacement in reverse order. I on the other hand unbolted the body and dropped it on another chasis, all good except a small leak in the evap system (I ignore the check engine light).

And I won't lie to ya, it's not an easy job.

god i would love too, but i don't have the money right now to rewire, and for a new tranny. i need to get it on the road, and use it for my daily driver. otherwise, i would wait and swap it!

That truck should have all you need--minus the t case--
that could be had for around 100--

All of the wiring should be there for you to plug and play--
That is a complete truck, with a transmission and all--
you could sell what you don't use--

That's basically what I did. 10 body bolts and lift. You'll need two lifts though, one in front, one in back and make sure not to buckle the front door frames. Of course disconnect everything and you may end up swapping out all the wiring. Take ya a couple weeks maybe.

Too bad I didn't see that truck first, would've saved me 75 bucks.

i asked my brother in law, who owns North Country Four Wheel Drive, In Greentown Pa, and he said i would need to rewire it and get a new tranny. either way, im broke for money, i gotta pay it off, and i need it for school, which starts in 2 weeks. i can't afford the time out of work to swap for a v8, other wise i sure as hell would.

Well, not all the people in Greentown Pa eat their Wheaties then--

The transmission is there-the harness is there--

by the time you part what you don't use, you'll probably be ahead-
If I was in your position, and area-I'd jump on it--

yeah, i know we all don't eat our wheaties. but he knows what hes doin. hes the biggest guy in the area. but he speciallizes in jeeps, so hes prolly wrong. but thankx for all of your help.
