the gauge thats above the battery gauge..upper right side..check it out..to me it seems like its the engine temp gauge..

do you know where the sender is??i really think i just knocked somethin loose..

guys..again THANKS!!i found the oil pressure sending unit and the wire was completely off..man i love this forum!!

Its either a bad sender, bad wire or a faulty gauge.

I think I would replace the sender first if it tests bad.

Good luck ....

Would this kind of malfunction throw a code i could pull??

changing the sender. You can also put a mechanical guage on that port and have your pressure tested.

$50 shipped from tradervar.com

I don't think it will throw a code. You can go to Autozone and they will scan it for free, if you have no means of getting codes

My oil pressure dummy gauge did the same thing about 2 years ago. I replaced it and all is good now. The part was about $10 or so.

My Sport Trac has a similar issue. It will read no pressure first thing in the morning and then after several minutes, it will jump like that for a few seconds and then go to the middle and stop. I have a new sender because Im sure its the issue as it seems to be a high failure part on these trucks. I havnt bothered to install it though because its burried pretty good and Im actually thinking about installing an actual guage of some sort. Even though it looks like a guage, its actually just an on/off switch and it is either normal or nothing so kind of worthless in my book.

That vifdeo was great,

I have exactly the same problem, my gauge pointer needle actualy hit the bottom black little stopper pin so many times it went below the black pin and now it cannot come up. I have to rely on the warning light to tell me if the gauge is working ok until I can get into it.

I am going to havbe a look at the sender unit. I have not checked yet bit doesanyone have a picture of where the sender unit is.

Thanks
