SAS and New Family Wheeler

This was my DD explorer for the last two years........But with my recent purchase of my F250, i'm going to start wheeling the explorer with the family. My B2 is just not family friendly. So i am using the axles from the B2 and building up the Ex. Plan to run 35's and drive it to events vs trailering like i do with my B2.

Here it is right after i bought, i had already removed the ground effects and put some 31's on it by the time i took the pic.

had to Lengthened the front drive shaft to fit

all that is left up front is to finish the bumper and trim some fender and drill to holes in the rear spring mount to frame and bleed the brakes.

Still have to hang shocks in rear, lengthen rear drive shaft, and relocate the leaf spring mounts on the axle, bleed brakes.

here it is next to the wifes explorer (hers has a 1" susp boost and is on 235's)

Awesome! You sir, are a solid axle swappin' son of a *****!! :D

So is the B2 going to the junk yard, or do you have other plans for it?

:burnout:

i have a full width 44 and 9" that is gonna see 5.13's and lockers, a first gen ext. cab ranger cab, and i am putting the front susp. back to coil sprung. Gonna do lots of other things to it as well in the next few months. I toy'd with the idea of junking the B2, but i like the fact, that with that truck i can wheel as hard as i want to and damage the body as much as i could and didn't care.

I wanted to build something i could take my family out with. My B2 is only a two seater so either the wife or my son would have to stay home when i go out on trips. And i was tired of having to trailer the B2 to short distance events that were not really that difficult of wheeling.

I have soa in the rear and 3" Blocks, front is custom leaf spring set-up. Not sure what it nets. It doesn't "clear" the front when stuffed. I plan to run 35's from now on.

Well i visited Rocks and valleys park today and managed to bust a yukon stub shaft in my LF

Here's a few pics from the day

looks sharp man, same as the one i am building, only difference is im d60 fw rear and d44 fw front, question tho what did you use for hangers and shackles up front. question 2 what are you using for a powerplant/tranny/t-case combo?

the engine, trans, tcase are all stock

I built my own leaf brackets and shackle brackets and used stock rear ranger/B2 shackles.

However, I recently sold the Narrow 44 and 8.8 from under the explorer and have a FW 44 and 9" with 5.13's aussie in front and spool in the back. And when these axles go in i'll be doing a coil susp. in the front. As i sold all my leaf susp and hi-steer with the narrow 44.

Replaced the narrow 44 and 8.8 with Full width 44 and 9" installed

So the new specs are
44 with 5.13's and aussie, 9" with 5.13's mini sppol and disc brakes
put the front back to coil spring susp with stock bronco radius arms. Right now it has 35x14.50 boggers

Finally got around to doing something with my joke of a front bumper The chunk of "C" channel has been with me a long time and has been on every vehicle i have wheeled ( its seen like 5 different trail rigs )

How much did that end up costing all together for the final product?

Not Sure alot of the parts were recycled from my other build when I went to one tons with my truggy, But alas I no longer own this truck. I traded it two weeks ago for a 89 f350 diesel crew cab 4x4 to tow with.

I agree, that ex looks excellent. I'm interested in your front bumper. I've heard about people doing that but could you give me just a little info about it?

Bumper was a piece of c-channel for the base, then just added to it on the sides.

The leafs are rear explorer leafs, with an extra leaf added in.

I traded the explorer for 89 f350 crew cab 4x4 7.3L 5spd, shortly after trading it the new owner jumped it multiple times and the battery turns up side down (no hold down, but when I had it, it did) and it lit up. :( no more explorer.

He is selling the bumper and the rock sliders I had on it though in detriot michigan if anybodys interested.
