What gives? Looks like replacing crank bearings is more than just a walk in the park... somewhere on this forum I have found a thread (using our lovely search function is really priceless) that when rebuilding engine (SOHC or OHV 4.0) you can use regular Ford V8 (289, 302) connecting rod bolts and nuts... think again! and so I have bought a set of bolts and to my surprise found out (after spending $50.00) that those V8 ARP bolts are too short. Old bolts are about 63mm long, new bolts are about 59mm - therefore are useless - did anyone use those bolts? or am I doing something wrong? Perhaps I have bought wrong ones?
any input on this would be greatly appreciated - I have no problem with the price of new OEM bolts - it's the nuts' price that drives me "nuts"! About $30.00 each!!! Nuts!
BTW - I'm dealing with a 4.0L out of a 99 "X"
