1990 Aerostar with a broken windshield.

I have a 1990 Ford Aerostar that a branch fell on and broke the windshield. It only has liability insurance on it. Can anyone suggest the cheapest way to replace the windshield? Are there any videos or/and threads about how to do it yourself, and how to find the best price on the replacement?

There are special windshield removal & installation tools on the market, but it doesn't make sense to invest in them for one time use. Get an estimate from a reputable glass store which will give you a written warranty. Do you have a local WWW.Safelite.Com?

You can get the tools from Harbor Freight Tools but you really need to know what you're doing because the windshield is an integral part of the structure. The windshield is held in place with urethane so that it stays in place during an accident. Just any caulking won't do at all. You can save a few bucks by buying a used window but unless you know what you're doing, get a professional to do your windshield. Don't bet your life on a jackleg job.
