4x4 low flashing

On my wifes 02 explorer it seemed that it was stuck in 4x4 but we have had a on of snow and ice so i kinda thought it was the auto 4x4. so now the roads are clear and its still humming away. In the drive way i pressed the 4x4 high button and the hight on the dash came on. When I pressed the 4x4 low button no dash light came on but the 4x4low button was blinking. Hoping for a code i hooked up my obd 2 and got nothing. I see a couple threads about the high and low flashing but this is just the low. any ideas?

It could be 4x4 module which is very common problem on 02 models or sensor problem on transfer case. There are also requirements for 4x4 low to engage(stopped, neutral, and foot on brake).

ok, that worked in getting it into 4low. its blocked in right now so i cant take it out for a test ride, but the reason i thought it was stuck was it sounded like it was in 4x4 all the time. then i couldnt get it in 4low. Thanks for telling me about that.
