I've got a P0741 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off - coming up on my '98 XLT 4.0 4x. Trans shop suggests rebuilt anywhere from $1500-$1800 bux. The vehicle has 192k on it so I am a bit hesitant to put that kind of money in a car that probably isn't worth that. Any recc's?
Maybe a complete atf change with full synthetic might buy me some time?

Update:

Ended up having a complete rebuild done with all update kits. Really shifts smooth now, no "OD OFF" blinking. Also had a bad idler pulley tensioner fixed. $2k total but I'm good to go now.
