Since you mentioned your only key is cracked you might try to clone it. Cloning a key is less expensive than programming the PCM to recognize a new key. I've seen machines with the capability in Ace Hardware and even Walmart. In order to clone a key the machine must read the microchip code on the old key. If the machine can't read it then you know the key is the problem.

That's an excellent idea , and only fifty dollars as opposed to whatever they'll charge at ford dealer! Now THAT is definitely worth a try. Need a second key anyway. Down side will be if machine can't read it, cause I'll have to get the car rekeyed(according to all ford's literature on the subject)Thanks!

Is your theft light flashing fast? If so, does it stop then slowly flash, then stop, then flash several times. The blink code might steer you on the right direction.
