when i push in the brake, i can't shift out of park. this happened to me once when i got the x over 3 mos. ago and not again until twice today. it does not happen in any other gear, just when i try to shift out of park. i have to wait a few seconds and then it will shift out. basically it's almost as if i don't press down on the brake pedal. any suggestions on what this is or not real something to worry about....until the day it doesn't come out of park at all! that's not funny. thanks

If its any help to you, later model explorers have a solenoid that locks the T-bar in park. It will only disengaage when you press the brake pedal. I would suggest a faulty brake switch or faulty solenoid. All this is assuming that your rig has this feature. Mine is a 1999 model and it has it.

well mines a 96 so i'm not sure. i'll ask my mechanic. it seems like it would be something like that, a switch or something. thanks for your help man.
