This past weekend I replaced the water pump on my 2000 Ranger. I removed the alternator & alternator bracket & replaced the water pump then reassembled it. Yesterday morning the battery symbol light was on in the dash, but the gauge shows the alternator is charging. I have a 7 mile drive to work & when I got there & back home the truck started fine. What could be causing the light to be on, could I have hooked something up wrong?. What is the small plug for on the alternator?. Once the rain stops I will check the charging volts.
