Engine/tranny temp guage

I want to put in 2 guages in my 92x. I want a new engine temp guage and a tranny temp guage. For the engine temp, what would i what the sensor to test, oil temp or water temp? And what would be the easiest rought? As for the tranny temp sensor, what would be the easiest way for that? Ive heard of some getting new pans that have a place for a temp sensor...how do you guy shave the hooked up?

I have my tranny temp sender in an external spin on filter assambly. Killed two birds with one stone. Jegs has the gauges(autometer) and the Filter setup made by perma cool.
