I have a limited 04 Explorer. I currently have 245/65/17. I can't find any decent off road tires. How big can I go? I plan on getting a 2-3 inch lift. Will 265/70/17 fit with a 2-3 lift?

I just don't think your going any wider without changing your wheel offset or adding spacers (another thread). I was looking at clearance on the front of my '05 and I just don't see the room. I will be adding spacers to fit 265/70/16.

265/75/17 is almost 32" u can run them stock

im running 265-75-17s with a high offset wheel and im just fine

I was wondering about width... but apparently I stand corrected..

Going from a 245 to a 265 tire is only changing the total width by roughly 3/4", which means you're sticking out 3/8" wider on either side...not much of a change in width.

here are a few of mine with high offset wheels and 265-75-17's lets just say its never clean i need some wide fender flares that dont look like ****...like the IRONMAN!!!!

running a 265.75.16 and a 265.70.17 are almost identical in size... the 265.75 is 31.64 inches and the 265.70 is about 31.60 inches... the difference in the two is made up in the rim size, which is the last number on the tire size... im running 265.75.16s rite now just fine... although i have a 2 inch lift on the front, these tires can fit stock with little or no rubbing (as for the 265.70.17 as well)... just go for it before u lift and u can do that later:thumbsup:

I had 235/70/R16 stocks on my 04 Mountaineer
I went and bought 245/75/R16's. they were BFG M/T's.

Turns out I COULD have fit 265's under there, but I didnt wanna take any chances, because like 90% of the Third Gens on this site are Explorers and not Mountaineers....so I didnt wanna order $900 tires and have to send em back cause they were rubbin too much!

They are great onroad and off-road, give 'em a couple thousand miles and they wear to the road fine. They are GREAT off-road, I took em thru over 1 foot of snow and mud, and I had to intentionally try HARD to get the truck to fishtail alittlebit. They dig thru snow almost too good, lol.
I only have AWD, so having 4x4 Low would be really good!

looks pretty nice, even with the small tires... love seeing mudders on these things:thumbsup:
