How to: How-To: Adjusting Transfer Case Shift Linkage (Manual Shift T-Case)

Prefix for threads which are instructional.
Can't get the shift knobs off to save my life. Wondering if you can do all this from the underside of the truck......

Pull lever back into 4LO. Sit in middle of seat. Brace yourself with a foot on each side of trans tunnel. Pull knob towards you till it pops off. Can twist a little but don't risk stripping splines because then it'll never fit tight again without glue.

Yep, its me once again reviving old threads. :) Its what I do...

Is this info accurate for the 2nd gen Explorers that have been swapped over to the manual BW4406 Tcase? A good tug on the shifter from 2HI to 4HI will pull mine right past 4HI into neutral. Then I have to push gently forward till I feel the "Click" into 4HI.

Good question. I'm not familiar with the 4406; I suppose if it has adjustable gate then yes the procedure would be similar.
