I've got only one key with my 2007 Explorer.

I have read in the manual that in the case that you only have one key, you have to get a new one to be programmed at the authorized dealer.

Is there no way to do it by myself?

No, there is not. You need two keys to do it without the Ford or locksmith computer, according to a friend that is a Ford tech. And some of the time it will not work even if you have two keys. I need another one or two made myself, I've already lost one of ours around the house somewhere. My friend said he'd do it for the key cost, erase the old keys in the memory and reprogram the new keys. Just have to find time off to take it to him. Regular cost is like $80-150 or so. Just call around to some dealers and locksmiths to see about having it done.
