Hello all,

Is it possible/worthwhile to modify the stock airbox on a '98 V8 Explorer to get better airflow and performance? Would a K&N filter help?

Thanks,

Dan

i have a k&n air filter that drops into the factory air box. it works really good. it's not a HUGE difference but it's noticeable. I had it in for 55K miles, i know way to long. and just cleaned it and reoiled it a few days ago and it's like brand new now. I have way better throttle response, but don't really know how it's affected my gas mileage.

The "Swiss Cheese" mod is oh so ghetto. Do it right and put a Mac air intake kit on your 5.0. While you're at it, upgrade your exhaust and consider custom tuning to tie it together. Those three mods work well together.
