Madbutchers ****machine sas

Ok. . So i got a deal last night on a set of axles and i took it

It is a hp d44 from a 90 ford econline 4x4 build by a company in Canada (don't remember the name of the company ) and a rear dana 60 + 4 wheels
All cost me $545

This build will be slow and i have no rush. . Might take 3 months and might take 3 years :D

Plan is simple. . Gears and lockers front and rear. .
Get it bolted together and wheel it :D

I'd say those negative offset hummer wheels will help keep your tires under the Ex.

Do the H1 wheels you ordered come with the inner locks? They aren't in the picture. Like these on mine. Mine are H1 8 bolt double beadlocks that have been recentered with TrailWorthy Fab 6 lug centers to use on my Dana 44 HD from a '89 Grand Waggy.

Ok.. i'm confused:eek:
Trying to find out if i can still use my stock front driveshaft after the sas.. and after some search here i find difrent awnsers:dunno:

If you're running a d44, you shouldn't have to lengthen the front. The pinion is bigger so when you push the axle up and lift it more, it fits great with the stock one.

You can get a custom adapter made to adapt a double cardan style driveshaft to your t-case. a company like tom woods driveshafts would be able to do all of that for you. For a SAS you're definantly going to need a custom front driveshaft, no doubt about it.

It depends. When you get to that part of the SAS, see if it fits and doesn't bind with articulation. If it does it needs to be modified. I have double cardigans front and rear.

i was hoping to just get a 3110 pinion yoke and mount it together.. :D

I could not find the BOM nr on my D44.. but to day i found some numbers on my diff cover..

Looks like this:

39015
044-9
03-01-88

For the D44 spindle nut socket, I have had better luck with this type of design.

It allows a more solid connection that doesn't slip while applying high torque.

Just curious about why you're doing a leafspring setup on a 1st Gen when you can easily do a radius arm, 3 link or long arm setup way cheaper and easier?
