I know this was submitted before but I found no usefull information. It is not the catalatic converter rattling.
I have 97 XLT that has loud noise in the transmisssion when you slow down above about 50 mph. The rpm's drop to idle instead of slowing the vehicle down, then the niose starts. I took it to a AAMCO trans shop and they wanted to rebuild the transmission. I opt'd to go the used route. After installing the used transmission I have the same problem. The Noise is in the transmission and occurs when the engine rpm's drop below 2k when you the rev the engine back up the noise goes away I looked at the transmission manual and it appears to be in the slow down clutch circuit. My questions is could this be caused by the computer? as this is an electronic controlled transmission.
