Simple question... why do people make a custom y-pipe for use with a single inlet muffler. Seems like it's more work and less flow than keeping to dual pipe and having a dual inlet. Help me understand, thanks

Because single-inlet mufflers are easier to find. First gens (and maybe all OHV's) have y-pipes stock.

Single inlet mufflers are a lot easier to find and some brand mufflers only make single inlets (Ex. Flowmaster super 40)

They are also cheaper in most cases

Okay, i hear ya, availability is an issue. I don't have a 1st generation so I was confused by the y-pipe concept. Thanks
