My first post guys so let me know if I make any errors.

Got a 1999 Eddie Bauer 4d Explorer. I was dring it yesterday and turned on the left turn signal while waiting at an intersection and noticed a small bit of smoke coming from out of the column at the 4 way switch. While I am located close to the Oklahoma Indian Nations, I don't think smoke signals were an option.

My first thought was a bad multi-function switch. I think I can handle the switch once I get passed the air bag. How hard is it to remove the steering wheel when equiped with an air bag?

Any thought on the smoke problem?

Thanks
Mark

Its most like a bad multifunction switch.

Good luck ....

Mine does this too. When I turn on the left turn signal, sometimes it "freezes" and smoke comes out. Then the signal "unfreezes" and the smoke stops. How does one replace this multifunction switch?
